A word from the founder
"Important financial decisions deserve more than a product recommendation — they deserve a long, careful conversation with someone who knows your circumstances and remembers them next year, and the year after."

How the firm is put together
Advice, governance and portfolio implementation — held in clear hands.
Independent advice sits in one place. Where discretionary portfolio management is used, it is provided by an appropriately authorised Category II financial services provider — operating under its own mandate and governance. Compliance and the working relationships with leading asset managers underpin both. The structure is deliberate: it keeps incentives honest and roles clearly separated.
Layer 01

Who we walk with
For people carrying decisions that deserve real thought.
We work with a deliberately small client base — professionals, business owners, families and retirees who want a calm, considered second voice on the financial decisions that shape the next twenty or thirty years. The relationships are long, the advice is honest, and the work is done without rush.
Professionals & executives
Equity, share schemes, career transitions and the slow build of long-term wealth.
Business owners & shareholders
Liquidity events, succession, and the careful separation of personal and business capital.
Families thinking long-term
Continuity across generations — clear structures, clear conversations, fewer surprises.
Approaching or in retirement
Confidence around income, longevity and the freedom to live the next chapter well.
Investment advice & implementation
Portfolio advice and ongoing review — supported by authorised investment partners.
Advice and discretionary portfolio management sit in distinct hands by design. We provide the advice, the strategy and the ongoing review. Where discretionary portfolio management is appropriate, it is provided by an authorised Category II discretionary investment manager — operating under its own mandate and governance.
01
Independent advice
Strategy, suitability and the long-term relationship are held by Dynamic Consult — answerable to you, not to a head office.
02
Ongoing review
Your arrangement is reviewed against your strategy and risk profile on a defined cadence — no quiet drift between meetings.
03
Disciplined, not reactive
Reviews and recommendations happen on a defined schedule — protecting your long-term plan from short-term noise.
04
Authorised partners
Access to investment solutions and product information from established South African asset managers and product providers — including Ninety One, Old Mutual, Sanlam, Discovery, Momentum, Liberty, BrightRock and Capital Legacy — together with an appropriately authorised Category II discretionary investment partner where applicable.

Founder
One person who knows your situation. Properly.
John Vermaak — Founder, CEO & Key Individual · FSP 54508
Dynamic Consult is led by John Vermaak, a licensed Key Individual holding RE1, RE3 and RE5 regulatory examinations, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning Law (NQF 8) from the University of the Free State — and a career built across South Africa's largest financial institutions before going independent.
John spent over a decade in financial advice at Sanlam, Old Mutual and Fairbairn Consult, working within independent FSP models and developing deep familiarity with institutional investment processes, compliance structures and long-term client stewardship. Before moving into financial services, he spent fifteen years in senior corporate sales and marketing leadership roles in the FMCG industry — a background that shaped a practical, commercial approach to complex decisions.
Dynamic Consult obtained FSP licensing from the FSCA regulator in December 2024. The firm exists because important financial decisions deserve more than a product recommendation — they deserve a long, careful conversation with someone who knows your circumstances and remembers them next year, and the year after.
"My job isn't to predict markets. It's to make sure your plan survives them."

The Hidden Cost of Financial Complexity
Most financial risks are not caused by a single bad decision. They are caused by a collection of good decisions that were never coordinated — a quiet look at why complexity becomes the risk itself.

Most clients will never read the COFI Bill — but they will feel its effects. A measured look at how South African financial advice is quietly shifting away from product distribution toward ongoing client stewardship.

Many owners assume the business will one day fund retirement. But a private business is not the same as a liquid, diversified, personal wealth plan — and conflating the two is one of the most common planning errors we see.
